The interface is very good, but not quite perfect.  For a resistive touch screen, it’s easily the most responsive I’ve ever used.  But now that everyone has been spoiled by capacitive screens (like the iPhone) it oes seem a tad bit outdated already.  Still, for the same price as a 32GB iPod Touch, I get 250GB!  More than enough space for every single song in my relatively large music collection, with space left over for photos, videos, etc.  Plus, the thing is just damn sexy…

Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet

My 1GB stick of RAM arrived Friday afternoon, and this morning I installed it in my Acer Aspire One.  After reading up on various forums and blogs, I was expecting a troublesome time installing the memory.  Acer didn’t give the usual access to the spare RAM slot like most laptop manufacturers do.  Instead, I had to practically dismantle the darn thing.  But in the end it really wasn’t as bad as I was expecting.  There were a lot screws, and a fairly annoying SSD ZIF connector, but other than that things went smoothly.  I didn’t get the RAM seated properly the first time through and had to reopen the machine, but it worked like charm the second time through.  And now I’m an expert as dismantling my AA1!

Things seems slightly snappier now, although I think most of the lag in the machine is due to the incredibly crappy SSD Acer used.  Oh well, what can you expect from a sub-$400 machine under two pounds?  It’s still incredibly functional and useful.

I have to return “The Road” to the library this week.  I checked it out about a month ago, then read it in two nights.  I literally had to force myself to put it down the first night I started.  I wanted to just read it straight through, but knew work would have been rough that next morning.  When I finished it, I held onto it, hoping that Mia might want to read it.  I guess not…  Whatever, my email reminder to return it soon made me remember what an amazing book it is.

Only a few more weeks until Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex drops.  If you have no idea what I am talking about, you should really check it out.

I picked up Iron Man on Blu-ray last week, and it’s everything that high definition should be: crisp, beautiful video, ear-splitting explosions, and ball-numbing bass.  Fun stuff, and a great movie.  One of the better super hero flicks, check it out if you haven’t already.

I ordered some additional memory for my Acer Aspire One on Friday.  It should get here today or tomorrow.  In a fit of inspired planning, Acer made it about as difficult as possible to add RAM to the AA1, but it is possible.  So I’ll be dismantling mine soon, and hopefully I’ll be able to get it back together.  Should be fun.
